In the area I call home, there is a small pocket in the city that feels like it was built for wandering. Northside has a way of gathering character in every direction, the kind you don’t have to look hard to find. Painted streets catch your eye before you’re even fully aware of them. Murals stretch across old brick in colors that brighten even the most ordinary afternoon. And tucked among it all are the places that make the neighborhood what it is.
There’s the one antique store you can’t walk past without wondering what’s been left behind.
The iconic bookstore that always seems to pull you in, whether you meant to stop or not.
The diners and cafés that have been there long enough to feel woven into the rhythm of the place.
Coffee shops where you can sit without hurrying.
Small, locally owned businesses carrying goods you won’t find anywhere else.
And the florist whose doorway smells amazing every time you open it.
It’s the kind of neighborhood where an afternoon can drift easily. You follow what interests you... a window, a sign, a color, a scent - and somehow the day begins to open up. I’ve never once needed a plan here; Northside makes room for curiosity in a way other places don’t. Time feels different, not slower, just more yours.
That feeling is what I wanted to capture when I crafted Northside Chai. The warmth, the spice, the flash of petals reminiscent of colorful murals... a blend shaped by the character of a neighborhood that’s comfortable being exactly what it is. It’s made for afternoons when you wander, with no particular destination and end up exactly where you needed to be.
