The philosophy
Inner Garden Botanicals is born from a philosophy my Father shared with me when I was young, while helping him in the Garden. He taught me that within each of our hearts lives a garden. To thrive, we must tend to our own soil, pulling the weeds that harm us and others, nurturing what is valuable and beautiful, and making space for the inner self to bloom.
Those words shaped how I came to understand growth and creation. Over time, my practice of tending to my inner garden grew. I learned to slow down, to ask difficult questions, to listen to my inner voice, and to constantly examine my garden for “the weeds”.
The lived experience
I also learned to honor the quiet intelligence of herbs. My study of herbalism began over 25 years ago, but my connection to plants started long before that. I’ve always felt at home among the green and growing things… the woods behind my house were a refuge, the trees some of my first peaceful companions. Over the years I’ve worked with plants and studied holistic methods to support wellness, balance, and life’s changes. As I entered into midlife, my understanding deepened. I began to see that plants do so much more than nurture the physical body. They teach us how to stay in rhythm with change, to shed what no longer serves us, and to grow towards the light.
Tea became my companion during my own seasonal changes. In meditation and reflection, tea offered a way to listen a little more closely. Certain blends opened my dreams, others brought clarity and all of them reminded me to move through my days with more presence and mindfulness, and to accept life's changes with grace. I started seeking deeper aromas and flavors as a way to be more present, while breathing in gentle steam and sipping slow warmth.
The dilemma
As my tea consumption grew beyond simple herbal wellness infusions, I struggled to find blends that lived up to my expectations. So many of them sounded great on the label, yet fell flat in the cup. Many companies listed improper herb to water ratios, so when I received the product, and I realized the effective amount was actually double what was listed, I felt deceived. When I did find a deeply flavorful blend or a beautiful aromatic experience, I was often disappointed to find "natural flavors" listed on the label. As someone who knows ingredients and takes great care with what I put in my body, I knew the only way forward was to experiment with my own sensory blending techniques. I've always been intuitive in the kitchen, this was just one more way I could expand my skillset.
The journey forward
Inner Garden Botanicals is a reflection of my passion for quality, effective botanical formulations and aromatic sensory tea experiences. It is also a reflection of my passion for growth, both within the beautiful world of plants and within the human realms of our own mind & spirit.
Each blend is crafted intuitively and with intention, drawing on the natural intelligence of the earth, and a lifetime of paying close attention to flavor and function. My artisanal recipes are born from the inspiration of lived experiences, meaningful moments and a sense of place, meant to make you pause and take notice. They are designed in small batches, and refined over and over until they become something my selective palate loves, and finally finished with loving care.
I'm a one woman botanical blending studio, on a mission to add something slow, beautiful and meaningful to your day. This is my way of growing a bigger garden…Through craft, ritual and the alchemy of herbs, I hope to help others cultivate moments of peace, presence, and integration.
To those who do that work – Who continue to grow, remove the weeds, and root deeper into their own becoming – thank you.
The world is a more beautiful place because of you.
