The Philosophy
Inner Garden Botanicals is born from a philosophy my Father shared with me when I was young, while helping him in the Garden. He taught me that within each of our hearts lives a garden. To thrive, we must tend to our own soil, pulling the weeds that harm us and others, nurturing what is valuable and beautiful, and making space for the inner self to bloom.
Those words shaped how I came to understand growth and creation. Over time, my practice of tending to my inner garden grew. I learned to slow down, ask difficult questions, to listen to my inner voice, and to constantly examine my garden for “the weeds”.
Lived Experience
My study of herbs and their benefits began over 25 years ago, but my connection to plants started long before that. I’ve always felt at home among the green and growing things… the woods behind my house were a refuge, the trees some of my first peaceful companions. Over the years I’ve worked with plants and studied holistic methods to support wellness, balance, and life’s changes. As I entered into midlife, my understanding deepened. I began to see that plants can teach us how to honor our natural rythms, to shed what no longer serves us, and to grow towards the light.
Tea became my companion during my own seasonal changes. In meditation and reflection, tea offered a way to listen a little more closely. Certain blends opened my dreams, others brought clarity and all of them reminded me to move through my days with more presence and mindfulness.
I started seeking deeper aromas and flavors as a way to be more present, while breathing in gentle steam and sipping comforting warmth.
My Dilemma
As my tea drinking expanded and I started substituting more tea for less coffee, wine and other beverages, I started paying closer attention to flavor, aroma, and overall experience. I found that many blends sounded wonderful on the label, but didn’t always translate in the cup. Sometimes the suggested tea to water ratios didn’t create the depth I was hoping for, which led me to experiment with adjusting amounts to better suit my taste.
When I did find blends with rich flavor or beautiful aromatics, I often discovered ingredients that didn’t align with my personal preferences, like added flavorings.
Because I’m mindful about what I put in my body and have spent many years learning about herbs and ingredients, I realized the best path forward was to begin blending for myself using whole botanicals and sensory intuition. So I began crafting blends to be both nourishing and deeply enjoyable.
The Journey Forward
Inner Garden Botanicals is a reflection of my passion for quality, effective botanical formulations and aromatic sensory tea experiences. It is also a reflection of my passion for growth, both within the beautiful world of plants and within the human realms of our own mind & spirit.
Each blend is crafted with intention, drawing on the natural intelligence of the earth, and a lifetime of paying close attention to flavor and function. My recipes are born from the inspiration of lived experiences, meaningful moments and a sense of place, meant to make you pause and take notice. They are crafted in small batches, and refined until the end result is a beneficial and highly enjoyable daily ritual in a cup.
I'm a one woman botanical blending studio, on a mission to add something slow, beautiful and meaningful to your day.
In Closing
This is my small way of growing a bigger garden…Through craft, ritual and the beauty of whole botanicals, I hope to help others cultivate moments of peace, presence, and integration. It is only through deeper presence that we can hear and learn to listen to our own inner voice, our inner gardener...our intuition.
To those who do that work – Who continue to grow, remove the weeds, and root deeper into their own becoming – thank you.
The world is a more beautiful place because of you.
